This year the music department of Prague City Library is celebrating its 120th anniversary. But rather than bringing gifts, you’re more likely to receive one.

The Elephant Valley, Hippo Pavilion together with the young elephant female Sita are popular with visitors of Prague Zoo which has just entered its 82nd season.

After the winter break the regular farmer’s markets are returning once again to Sluneční náměstí in Nové Butovice, starting on 1st April (on the Easter Monday). Stalls with fresh produce will open every Monday from 8 am to 6 pm.

Unprecedented interest in the exhibition of Matchbox cars, known in the Czech Republic as “Angličáky” and hugely popular in the 1960-70s, has persuaded the Museum of Decorative Arts (UPM) to extend the exhibition until 21st April.

The Valley of Elephants with the Hippo House solemnly opens on 30th March. The Mayor of Prague, Mr. Svoboda, Prime Minister Mr. Nečas and a representative of the Government of the Democratic Socialistic Republic of Sri Lanka, which donated the Czech Republic two female elephants – Tamara and Janita – will be present at the ceremony.

This year Bambiriáda 2013 is held under the motto “Metamorphosis of Childhood through Time”. The event can be visited between 23rd and 26nd May on Vítězné square (“Kulaťák“), Prague 6.

The Koruna Palace invites everyone to the Koruna arcade in the lower part of the Wenceslas Square to partake of the music festival called Hudba V Koruně (Music in Koruna) every Thursday starting on 28th March 2013.

The world premiere of the most complete collection of works by Alphonse Mucha, amassed by former world tennis champion Ivan Lendl, is to open on 10th April in Prague’s Municipal House. The exhibition gives an insight into all three periods of the artist’s work for graphic reproduction – Parisian, American and Czech.
