However, Prague would like to reach a conciliatory agreement with Moravský Krumlov, where Mucha’s works have been exhibited until now. A letter has, therefore, been drawn up giving arguments to contest the claims of Krumlov Council.
At the request of Mucha’s family, on Monday Moravský Krumlov prohibited any handling of the Slav Epic until legal obscurities are cleared up regarding the deed of bequest with which Mucha donated the paintings to Prague. The removal of the paintings to Prague’s Exhibition Centre was supposed to begin on Monday.
Prague has already taken over the works, and so Moravský Krumlov has no agreement with Prague which would enable the paintings to be further exhibited.
