City Gallery Prague

The City Gallery Prague, the second most important in the Czech Republic after the National Gallery, was founded on May 1, 1963. It has been given the task to collect, professionally preserve, scientifically process and exhibit the Czech art of the 19th and 20th century.

At the same time the Gallery takes care of a fund of monuments, public carvings, plaques and fountains on the outdoors of Prague including theirs restoration and placing of new ones. Since the beginning the professionals of the Gallery have the goal to build up a collection of Czech art of the 19th and 20th century and to introduce it to public on a professional level.

Modern Art Moving to Baroque

The City Gallery Prague is going to cease its exhibition of the Czech modern art at the Old Town Hall. It will be transferred to the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace by the Charles Bridge instead.

Interesting Exhibitions In Troja Chateau

National Marionette Theatre

The National Marionette Theatre (NDM) arrived on the Czech theatre scene as part of the Via Praga Cultural System on 1 June 1991, when it began – in the unique and historically protected theatre space called “Říše loutek” (The Kingdom of Puppets).

Wax Museum in Prague

The first Wax Museum in Prague was opened at Rapid Palace in March 1997, in the presence of many representatives from politics and culture. The establishment of such a museum, using solely Czech artists - sculptors, make – up artists, architects and designers - had been the long held dream of Zdenek Kocik, the museum’s owner.

The Museum of Miniatures

Displayed are marvelous showpieces such as caravan of camels in a needle eye, a portrait of A.P.Chechov painted on a halved poppy seed or the Lord’s Prayer written on a human hair, and even the smallest book in the world of 0,9 x 0,9 mm size which can be looked at with a microscope and which is included in the Guinness Book of Records.
