Febiofest 2012 will be held between 22nd and 30th March 2012 in a total of twelve screening halls of Cinestar Anděl at Smíchov. Afterwards it will move to selected Bohemian, Moravian and Slovak towns where it will screen movies until 2nd April. In spite of continuing financial challenges, prices will remain the same as last year.
Music and classic movies
Cinestar Anděl will feature a full range of movie screenings as well as an accompanying music programme, so visitors will get all they are used to. The screening hall of the national film archive Ponrepo will offer an interesting retrospective movie programme.
Homage to Moretti
“One part of the Cinema of Personalities will pay homage to the Italian filmmaker, Nanni Moretti,” said Fero Fenič, who is the founding father of the festival. Febiofest will introduce his new film, We Have a Pope, which is a comedy about a papal election. The audience will also have the opportunity to see some of his early movies like The Mass Has Finished, April, or Bianca, including the cult films, Red Lob and Dear Diary, many of which are practically unknown in the Czech Republic.
Become a member of the jury
Even now, you can find the information about how to become a member of the jury at the festival’s website. This is already the fourth time when the jury is formed by the public. The 33 member Febiofest jury that awards Grand Prix is open to everyone between 15 and 100 year old from all corners of the Czech Republic, irrespective of education, social background, profession and interests. You can send application forms by 10th March. The festival organisers will chose 33 members of the jury and complete it with a chairman of honour.
