The 14th edition of Bambiriáda in Prague, organized by the Czech Council for Children and Youth (ČRDM) is held from 24th to 27th May in Vítězné Náměstí has joined the European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity. With its motto: Enthusiasm and Experience, it wants to emphasise the importance of the connection between the world of children and that of those, who had been born earlier. “What else than enthusiasm can a young person offer? And sometimes it is enough for a big cause. And older people, full of experience, have often left their enthusiasm behind them. However, by combining the two qualities we get a beautiful, yin yang balance," explained Aleš Sedláček, chairperson of the ČRDM.

Would you like to auction a VIP toy?

In Prague, children and their parents or grandparents will have the opportunity to visit the Creative Workshop and make a simple toy, such as traditional duck made of little wooden pieces. The Creative Workshop will be opened by well-known people and their children as a part of Bambiriáda‘s opening ceremony on Thursday in Vítězném Náměstí. The best products together with cards expressing intergenerational messages will then be offered to the public on an online auction at www.aukro.cz. The proceeds will go to volunteer activities within the 72 Hours project. There will also be the Book Exchange Day of the Municipal Library in Prague, which was held for the first time last year and was a great success. Bibliobus will be in operation on Saturday. From the stage performances, we can, for instance, mention the girl group Diamond Cats.

Everyone likes to compete!

The 14th edition of Bambiriáda also organizes two nationwide competitions. The Photographic competition has again been prepared in cooperation with the children’s server Alík.cz and with the server Rajče.net. The authors of the best photographs depicting a creative activity of children with parents or grandparents can win beautiful experience prizes, e.g. a weekend in a Bavarian hotel with a free entry to the local amusement park and aquapark and a stay in the Babylon Hotel.

Free tickets plus a present

This is not the only advantage associated with the visit of Bambiriáda. After presenting a ticket to Bambiriáda (the entry to Bambiriáda is free), children and their guardians can visit other cultural and sports facilities under advantageous conditions. These facilities include the largest aquapark in Central Europe Aquapalace Praha in Čestlice, a fairy castle and chateau Staré Hrady u Jičína and others. Cooperation has also been confirmed by the National Museum, which will allow free entry to Lapidárium, Antonín Dvořák’s Museum, Bedřich Smetana’s Museum, Czech Museum of Music, Náprstek Museum and the National Monument in Vítkov. Other museums that have joined the event are the Postal Museum, Museum of the Police of the CR, Prague City Museum and Podskalí Custom House at Výtoň.
