The Christmas Market in Old Town Square also offers Czech carps from Lázně Bohdaneč in the Pardubice Region.

Christmas carps

Christmas carps in The Old Town Square can be bought between December 21st and 23rd. “We have enough fish so we can prepare for people according their wishes. You can find us right under the Christmas tree from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.,” said Petr Batík, supplier of the carps. The carps range from less than two kilos to eight kilograms. One kilo of a first class carp (up to 2.5 kg) costs around 75 CZK. If you want even better quality carp, you will pay about ten crowns more. This means that the prices are the same as last year.

Ryba’s Mass on Christmas Eve

As usual, the Old Town Square offers a varied programme. Ryba’s Christmas Mass will be performed on Christmas Eve. Many other events are prepared also for Friday 23rd as well as for the days following Christmas Eve until the New Year’s Eve.

18:45 – 19:45         Petr Manoušek’s Christmas Chimes celebrate 10th anniversary.
It is the second biggest chimes in the world with 57 bells and a car on which they are placed. They weigh 22 tonnes.
The chimes will be performed by Rosemarie Sentiëns from Norway with a special programme for Prague.
