The first three years of the festival were a great success – the proof being the ever increasing number of visitors, the number of bottles that were drunk and their overall cost. Last year’s festival was visited by 1100 guests who drank 1720 bottles costing 2.5 million CZK. The interest on the part of the Champagne Houses and the prestige of the festival suggest that ageing is not only an attribute known to the delicious drink.
The Grand Jour de Champagne Prague 2010 is held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague, the Chamber of Commerce of the CR, Business Institute and Atout France. The event will be once again held under the patronage of Richard Juhlin, the world-famous sommeliér, publicist and champagne guru.
This year’s festival will be visited by a variety of well-known names such as Jacquart, Diebolt Vallois, Gardet, Mumm, Alfred Gratien, Henriot, Legras, Mailly Grand Cru, Piper Heidsieck, Perrier-Jouet, Gimonet, Louis Roederer, Salon/Delamotte, deVenoge, Audoin de Dampierre, Bonnaire, Barnaut and others.
The highlight of the gastronomical part will be the two banquets in the French Restaurant of the Municipal House with a team including such big names as the chef of the Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel Roman Paulus, Jiří Štift from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the French chef Jacques Marie Nicolas Auffrays from the French Restaurant.
As in the past, the main venue of the Grand Jour de Champagne will be the Municipal House in Prague, whose Art-Nouveau grace goes very well with the Champagne Festival. However, there will be other venues as well: Chateau Mcely, Palace Prague Hotel, La Bodeguita Del Medio, Bugsy´s Bar and Villa Richter. The golf tournament at the end of the festival will be held in the Prague City Golf Club in Zbraslav.
