On top for the first time in history

The bar is located in a basement of hotel U Prince in Old Town Square and was the only Czech representative in this prestigious selection. The jury’s interest was caught not only by the wide range of cocktails, unique interior but also by small things such as the pianist who entertains the guests every night. “It is a first time in history when Czech bar has been this successful,” said the boss Pavel Sima.

It has famous fans

It’s popular overseas because apart from everything else its patrons are internationally famous barmen. The bar’s fame is being spread around the world by living legend Peter Dorelli, expert in molecular mixology Tony Coligliaro or Dale DeGroff founder of American cocktail museum. It’s needless to say that these boys don’t sign just under anything.

Cocktails like from the times of Al Capon

Behind the success is, apart from the wide range of good quality drinks, the original atmosphere of the bar and its style of Americas thirties. This includes cocktails which were IN at that time. Guests have the opportunity to taste cocktails not all that well known in Czech Republic such as Old Fashioned or Sazerac. “We found the recipes in old books as we wanted them to be as authentic as possible,” confided Sima. The barmen, who are dressed in period costumes, are not shy to experiment during preparation.

Up to forty cocktails on offer

Current forty basic cocktails are constantly replenished by new additions. Forget the usual umbrellas and fringing, on your table can land a drink in a bulb filled with smoke from a cigar but also in a tooth paste tub. And the barmen like to play with ice. Don’t expect an ice cube, you can put an ice diamond into your drink or have ice filled with alcohol.

Black Angel’s bar is always busy with social events, parties and celebrations and is attended by all sorts of people and social groups. The bar is famous for its discrete atmosphere and therefore no photos are allowed. Those who have visited this bar can confirm that it is very hard not to do so. Black Angel’s Bar opened for the first time on November 23rd 2010 and one and half years later managed to win more than one trophy. Half a year ago it was voted second best bar in Czech Republic and it also got it’s placement in TOP 10 in the latest edition of Maurer Selection Grand Bar.
