This essential element of city life, as the market undoubtedly is, has even found itself on the agenda of an International Workshop “How to create a successful Farmers’ Market”, taking place on 8th April. The Dejvice event, and other Prague markets, will be the destination for an excursion aiming to show the conference participants the possibilities of creating a city for its people.

Wide range of food and fun

“A new addition will be the “Kids’ Corner” with live animals for the first time at the Farmers’ Market. We are proud to have established this modern tradition right here in Prague 6,” said Town Hall Spokesperson Martin Šalek. This year’s market will be ceremonially opened by the Minister of the Environment, Tomáš Chalupa, and the Mayor of Prague 6, Marie Kousalíková. The product range will be really wide. Besides the already well-established goods there will be new additions such as Ostrich pate, herb syrup, lamb, seedlings, gluten-free cannabis flour etc.

At no great cost

“I consider it exceptionally favourable news that we have managed to fulfil last year’s commitment. We promised that the market would no longer be financed by public money, because with such exceptional interest I think it has to make money by itself. And this has been achieved. This year’s 28 markets will cost the City Hall a mere 1000 CZK while maintaining the high standard already set,” said Marie Kousalíková, Mayor of Prague 6.
