Complete revitalization

The chapel went through a revitalization process, which took six months. “The interior was partially repainted, artificial marble reconditioned, cleaned and impregnated with wax. The floor was abraded and lightly impregnated with wax, the organ and the floor at the gallery repaired and the entrance was repainted,“ said Irena Maňáková from the National Library.

Second biggest after the castle

The richly decorated Mirror Chapel, unique in Bohemia, is a part of the baroque Klementinum, which is the second largest historic area after Prague Castle. It is situated in Klementinum‘s fourth yard, on the ground floor of the wing connecting the Astronomical Tower with the northern wing of the hall along Platnéřská Street. Klementinum, the seat of the National Library, is currently undergoing a vast renovation.

Guided tours and concerts

Guided tours in the Mirror Chapel take place daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including weekends. It also houses classical music concerts, which are held daily at 6 p.m..
