The painting measures over 520 m2 and the author needed over one tonne of paint to finish it. It consists of one thousand canvas sheets, each depicting an angel, however none of them are the same.

Beauty and life

“In the past, cultures differed. Today we see an immense synthesis in Europe and that is what I aimed for, too,“ said the author of the painting. “When I walked around Prague I saw how everything was organically linked. Also the paintings of angels are organically linked. I started painting them because I wanted to give people the feeling of beauty and joy of life.“

Twenty years of preparations

It took Lekim Ibragimov twenty years to prepare his project, out of which the painting took about ten years, “It cost me a lot of effort and tears,” said Lekim Ibragimov at the opening of the exhibition.  While he was working on the painting, he exhibited other paintings as well and he noticed that it was people who like to mediate that gather around them.  This inspired him and in the end he managed to create a synthesis between Christianity and Eastern religions.

World premiere

The painting’s world premiere takes place in Prague. Then it will be moved to Madrid, Florence and other cities. The organizers hope they will win over world-famous galleries. The Angels should then travel Eastwards, e.g. to Kazakhstan and the culmination should take place in Moscow. Finances from sponsors, which help the project to be realized will be used to help handicapped children in the cities where the painting will be exhibited.
