Organisers are counting on about two thousand people joining in the parade that will make its way from Albertov to Národní třída together with floats, refreshments, recorded music, performances and various artistic concepts. The event will be recorded by Czech Television and a guide will explain the historical background of individual stops. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations and support the motto ‘We have something to celebrate!’
The time schedule of the allegorical parade commemorating 17th November:
- 15:00 Meeting of the parade’s participants in Albertov
- 15:30 The parade starts from Albertov and is headed by floats and live musicians who alternate with records of 80s and 90s songs.
15:55 The first stop is in Vyšehrad, where the sculpture of the ‘Worker of Revolution’ by John Bok will be unveiled. - 16:25 The second stop is on the cross-roads by the Botanic garden where the first skirmishes with the police took place on 17th November 1989.
- 16:47 The third stop is on the Rašín embankment by the house of Havel’s family, where Thai lanterns will be released to honour the memory of Olga Havlová.
- 16:53 The fourth stop is on the embankment by the National Theatre where local actors greeted the student demonstration twenty years ago.
- 16:55 The fifth stop is on the cross-road between Národní and Legií bridge; police agent provocateurs led the demonstration towards armed policemen.
- 17:00 The sixth stop is at Národní třída, the location where the most brutal massacre took place. The ‘fall of the curtain’ happening will carry on in the form of pyrotechnical effects.
- 18: 00 The start of the concert at Národní třída featuring Monkey Business, Dan Bárta, Vladimír Mišík, Vlasta Třešňák, Pavel Zajíček, Tony Ducháček or the rappers James Cole, Vladimir 518 a Orion.
