St. George’s Convent is in such a condition that it has to be repaired. Therefore the National Gallery, which presents the collection in the Convent, will start removing the paintings for storage on 26th February.

Eventually in Salmovský Palace

In the future the collection of Czech Art of the 19th Century should appear in Salmovský Palace, but this depends on whether the difficult and extensive reconstruction work on this building is complete. For many years the exhibition of Czech Art of the 19th Century was on display in St. Ann’s Convent, which now houses Gothic Art. In 2008 the 19th Century Art collection was moved from Veletržní palace (Exhibition Centre) to Prague Castle.

In cooperation with the Museum of Decorative Arts

The exhibition of 19th Century Art in Salmovský Palace is to take place in cooperation with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, which is also participating in the reconstruction. Furthermore, the combination of art and artistic craft, which attained a new, industrial direction in the 19th Century, can only be beneficial.
