Sperm Festival at Meet Factory
From April 22nd to 24th, Prague’s club The Meet Factory will host the 5th international festival of art, music and visual culture entitled The Sperm Festival. The festival will present both Czech and foreign representatives of modern electronic music, who are not very well known in our country. Besides the music programme, visitors can look forward to an audio-visual section and workshops with multimedia artists.

Discovery in Akropolis: Gold Panda
London music producer Gold Panda, one of the most musically stimulating discoveries of 2010 British music will present his minimalistic mix of electronic music, hip hop and sophisticated symphonic pieces in Akropolis Palace on 24th February. Prior to his appearance, visitors will be able to enjoy the show performed by DJ Iva 8bitová & DJ Menšík.

The Bloom of Prague Spring
The aim of this year’s Prague Spring classical music festival is to dispel the myth that classical music is a museum piece and has nothing to say to the youth of today. It aims to present world of classical music in a modern and interactive way. A truly full-blown classical music experience can be achieved if the listener knows what to focus on and how to orientate within the unique orchestral sound and musical form longer than 3-minute songs.

Spring Strings of Autumn
Dee Dee Bridgewater, one of the best jazz singers in the world will perform in Municipal House on 2nd April. She is holder of two prestigious Grammy awards as well as a Tony award for her work in Broadway. During the Spring String Gala she will introduce her recent album Eleonora Fagan (1915–1959): To Billie with Love from Dee Dee Bridgewater, which was nominated for Grammy in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category.

Rebellious lady Zuzana Lapčíková
Within the continuing cycle of Rebellious Ladies of Czech Music, on 17th February in the large hall of the City Library, dulcimer player and singer Zuzana Lapčíková will perform with double-bass player Josef Fečo. This empathic duo, whose concerts pulse with unprecedented energy, brings a combination of Moravian folk music and jazz.

Year of Rabbit Starts in Akropolis
On Thursday 27th January, Palác Akropolis in Prague will host the first of the series of stylish concerts entitled “Songfest.cz – The Year of the Rabbit 2011“, at which a Chinese singer Feng-yün Song, actor and presenter Jaroslav Dušek and their guests will celebrate the arrival of the new year according to the lunar calendar.

Another Concert by Young Gods in Akropolis
The Swiss band, one of the pioneers of electronic music with industrial elements, will give another concert in Prague due to public demand. They will play in Palác Akropolis not only on 18th February but also the following day.

Bryn Terfel in Municipal House
After Mariusz Kwiecien, another star of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Bryn Terfel, is coming to Prague. Music enthusiasts will thus have the opportunity to see one of the world’s best opera singers live. Bryn Terfel will perform on 20th January in Smetana Hall of the Municipal House, accompanied by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gareth Jones.
