The Prague concert starts with the performance of guests from Germany Jan Eschke “Munich Jazz Family“  and Rudolf Mazač’s Kentomania Big Band, with eight extra French horns! These important meetings of jazz musicians of all generations include the general public as well as cultural and political personalities from both the Czech Republic and abroad. The concerts are primarily a very efficient promotion of Czech culture, the City of Prague and other Czech towns within the EU.

Another objective and contribution of the project is its promotion of jazz as a genre, which in the 20th century significantly influenced the development of music production. The aim is to move jazz music up to such an artistic rank as is occupied by classical music. The international festival “Jazz Bridge“ was founded in 2004 on the occasion of the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union. Its founder is the French horn player, composer and conductor Rudolf Mazač. The festival’s subheading is “from Prague to the EU“.

Finally, this international co-operation on artistically very interesting bigband projects is another objective of the Jazz Bridge Festival 2012.

The concert is held under the auspices of the deputy mayor of Prague 2 Dr. Otto Schwarz.
