On 27th October, the big hall of Prague’s Lucerna will feature the very first Czech performance of the legendary British singer and composer PJ Harvey, who will be introducing her latest album Let England Shake. Tickets are on sale from 8th August in Ticketpro network, and cost CZK 1190.
Forty-one year old Polly Jean Harvey is known for her strident songs that cascade fork lightning lyrics illuminating the realms of love, religion, war and sex in a dynamic turbulence. She has been awarded the Mercury Prize, has seven Brit Awards and five Grammy nominations. Rolling Stone Magazine nominated her the best new artist and singer in 1992 and in 1995 she was recognized as the best artist of the year. Additionally, the same magazine ranked two of her albums amongst the best records of all times. She has cooperated with many distinctive personalities, such as Nick Cave, Thom Yorke, Björk, John Parish, Tricky, Josh Homme, Pascal Comelade or Mark Lanegan.
The album Let England Shake, which was recorded in a 19th century church, deals with political issues and especially with the theme of war. She focused her attention on the intriguing history of colonial England.
