This 100 year old park was founded on land originally belonging to estates, more often than not they were planted with vineyards which were proudly endowed with rather poetic Czech names such as Kuchyňka, Saracénka, Švihanka or Pštroska. The famous garden Kanálka, named after its owner Earl Josefu Emanuelovi Canal de Malabail, is also partially included in the 11 ha area. The earl built the garden on the land originally occupied by two other vineyard estates and the place was viewed as one of the most interesting and valuable gardens around the break of the19th century. The garden originally spread out between Polska and Vinohradska streets. Even though its rather poetic name Kanálka has been preserved it currently signifies just a local street. More...
