This 100 year old park was founded on land originally belonging to estates, more often than not they were planted with vineyards which were proudly endowed with rather poetic Czech names such as Kuchyňka, Saracénka, Švihanka or Pštroska. The famous garden Kanálka, named after its owner Earl Josefu Emanuelovi Canal de Malabail, is also partially included in the 11 ha area. The earl built the garden on the land originally occupied by two other vineyard estates and the place was viewed as one of the most interesting and valuable gardens around the break of the19th century. Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady)
Even though its abundance of so many wooded plants is staggering, nevertheless the main attraction of this extensive park is the many breathtaking vistas of Prague, such as Hradčany and Petřín hill with its lookout tower, or you can encounter some utterly unique views mainly in Italská Street direction.
