Prague Moves Together With Contemporary Dance Festival
The Contemporary Dance and Movement Festival, now in its 18th year, will be held in four of Prague’s theatres between 13th and 16th April. The organisers aim to artistically entwine the mysteries of dance and movement with other visual arts, music and literature. The event features not only twelve theatre performances but also workshops, Zrní band gig, a photographic exhibition and the Atelier of Dance Reading.

National Theatre Plans 15 Premieres for Next Season
Fifteen premieres of all genres and more than 70 productions are being prepared by individual artistic groups in the National Theatre (NT) in Prague for the 2012/2013 season. The new artistic director of the National Opera, Rok Rappl, alias Rocc, is preparing “Pelléas et Mélisande” by Claude Debussy. Leading American choreography is to be presented by Petr Zuska, artistic director of the National Theatre Ballet. Fifty years after it was written, Václav Havel’s absurd comedy “The Garden Party” celebrates its anniversary in the drama section under the direction of Dušan Pařízek.

Famous “Les Misérables” Takes over Goja Music Hall for 6 Months
Thursday 1st March saw the premiere of the musical adaptation of the famous Victor Hugo novel “Les Misérables” in the Goja Music Hall, Holešovice. This magnificent musical features around fifty performers, including the biggest Czech musical stars, such as Daniel Hůlka, Monika Absolonová and Pavel Vítek. The role of Fantine will be played alternately by Kateřina Brožová, Jitka Čvančarová a Petra Peterová.

New Circus La Putyka Is Here!
Mozart’s sonatas and German slapstick silent comedies were vigorously combined together by Cirk La Putyka to create a new Slapstick Sonata performance. Visual poetry interacts with absurd physical comedy in the piece, which was directed by the legend of European New Cirques Maksim Komaro. Slapstick Sonata has lots to offer, from flying bodies and clowns’ pranks to live music, dance and singing.
