Famous artists and rising talent
Theatres Ponec, Alfred ve dvoře, Studio Alta and TeatrNoD will showcase the zenith of last year’s dance performances. The programme unleashes a cascade of inspiring visions by distinguished choreographers, famous ones as well as young up and coming talent. Visitors can anticipate the dance theatrical performance of the Men by choreographer, performer and director Adéla Laštovkova Stodolova. The dance duo VerTeDance will present their performance How Much Does Your Desire Weigh? And Barbora Látalová has prepared the dance performance Margaretha Holds Forth. Other than that, the programme will feature Found & Lost by Swedish author Charlotta Öfverholm or the successful performance Mono No Aware by Hana Turečkova from Prague Ballet Chamber. The festival will culminate by the performance Africa – Consideration by Monika Rebcova, which unites contemporary dance forms with the powerfull effervescence of the traditions of African dance.
Four days full of dance
“The festival is shorter but it also more condensed. We shortened the event to four days, but we will start in early afternoon. This is our response to European trends. We believe that such a rich programme will dynamically enhance the festival’s ambience,” said the director of Czech Dance Platform Kateřina Višinská. Apart from dance performances, the Czech Dance Platform offers a rich accompanying programme, which on 13th April will kick-off the site-specific performance by Lenka Bartůňkova called Dance Project’s Lágrima. This event will be followed by the photographic opening exhibition by photographer Vojtěch Brtnicky in Ponec theatre. Visitors can also look forward to the workshop Světlo-scéna, open debate by the Institute of Light Design called Light Design in Contemporary Czech Dance or the workshop Atelier of Dance Reading, which aims to help people to comprehend contemporary dance.
Winner gets half of the profit
The International Board led by the distinguished British dancer John Ashford will chose the best dance performances and dancer of the year. The festival will also award the prize for the best lighting design and the audience will choose the winner of the Audience Award, who will get half of the festival’s ticket sales profit from Ponec.
