In recent days, the outbreak and prevalence of Coronavirus has been confirmed in northern Italy, particularly in Lombardy (the city of Milan and its environs) and Veneto. The Italian government, in cooperation with the affected regions, has put sanitary and restrictive measures in place, including the isolation of the 10 affected communities in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo 'Eugenao)

The areas under quarantine can neither be visited nor departed. Violations of the restrictions can lead to prosecution and high fines. The situation is controlled by the Italian security forces.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Czech citizens to avoid regions in northern Italy. After China and South Korea, Italy has the highest number of infections. Prague Airport has reserved a special corridor for arrivals from Italy, with increased sanitary measures.

Current information with the number of people infected with Coronavirus COVID-19, according to ECDC, is available on the Czech National Institute of Public Health website at: http://www.szu.cz/.
