Prague City Hall, together with the Brainz Studios creative group, has today presented the globally unique service called Brejlando. It will offer experimental theatre experiences to its spectators in virtual reality (VR). With the help of state-of-the-art technologies and borrowed VR glasses, everyone can immerse in watching selected performances from Prague theatres from the comfort of their homes, as well as from a completely new angle - right from the stage, in close vicinity to the actors. The service is intended to help theatres and their fans overcome these difficult times of limited operation. However, at the same time, the initiators believe that they are establishing a new international trend that can become a permanent part of the theatres' offer.

The city of Prague will launch a new campaign from Monday, the 26th of October, showing the faces of the frontline workers fighting the pandemic every day.

The districts of Prague 7 and Prague-Troja are connected by a new pedestrian bridge three years after the disastrous collapse of the Troja Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge will serve not only pedestrians, cyclists and people on inline skates, but also the Integrated Rescue System vehicles shall the need arise. The total cost of the construction was 150 million CZK, and the construction took less than one year.

Technická správa komunikací hl. m. Prahy (TSK) announced two public contracts for the restoration of Prague’s Libeň Bridge, management of the construction and coordination of the entire project. The aim of the first contract is to select a supplier of the construction works and related design and engineering services. The selection process will be carried out in accordance with the FIDIC - Yellow Book conditions (Design & Build project type). The second public contract aims to find a suitable construction manager and project coordinator.

Arbor Day is celebrated at various times of year all over the globe, depending on the climate in different countries. In the Czech Republic, Arbor Day is celebrated annually on the 20th of October.,

A barrier-free entrance to Prague Botanical Garden was opened in the southern part of St. Claire’s Vineyard at the end of September.


The garden had been planning to build a new entrance for several years, and their waiting has finally paid off. From now on, visitors can comfortably enter St. Claire’s Vineyard directly from Trojská Street, at the intersection between the vineyard walls and Troja Château, where the Kovárna bus stop is conveniently situated.

On the 8th of October 2020, following the declaration of a national emergency due to the increase in COVID cases, the Czech Government decided to take emergency measures to reduce the spread of the pandemic.

A new website was launched on the 5th of October which gives information on the next available testing dates for COVID-19 in Prague and is also connected to the booking systems for individual testing clinics. The website is designed for everyone who wants to get tested, both for those with a medical certificate and for people who want to check the average waiting times at selected testing sites.

‘V Praze jako doma’, the campaign supporting tourism in Prague and to reduce the negative economic consequences of coronavirus, has been very successful. Thanks to the campaign, almost 60,000 people came to the Czech capital this summer, mainly from the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Slovakia. There have been very positive responses to the programme. The City of Prague, along with Prague City Tourism, will therefore extend the campaign until the end of December this year.

There are 203 species of deciduous and 44 species of coniferous trees in Stromovka in Prague, making the former game reserve one of the richest in tree species diversity in the Czech Republic. Many trees in Stromovka now have new labels as part of the project ‘Trees you want to know’. 134 nameplates were installed on 94 tree species in the central part of the Royal Game Reserve. Therefore, visitors to Stromovka can now learn about a total of 18 species of oak, for example. One of the white oaks growing in the park is even the oldest of its species in the Czech Republic.
