The procedure for the winter, which began in November due to the risk of frost at night, will be fully launched on the 1st of December 2019, and will stay in place until the end of March 2020.
How to help homeless people during the winter?
Don't let anyone freeze. If you meet someone who has nowhere to go when it is very cold out, and who may end up sleeping on the street or in the park, call the municipal police on the number 156. The officers are involved in humanitarian actions, and in coordination with social workers, they offer homeless people a warm place to stay the night.
Donate old clothes. You can bring coats, shoes, underwear and other clothes to charities and organisations that provide services to homeless people, such as Social Services Centre Prague (Centrum sociálních služeb Praha), Naděje, Salvation Army (Armáda Spásy), and Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague (Arcidiecézní charita Praha), among others.
Donate money. Giving financial donations also helps the organisations that work with homeless people in Prague.
Volunteer. You can contact charities like the Czech Red Cross Prague 1 (Český červený kříž Praha 1) and others, if you would like to help out in your free time.
