The Mathilda Civic Association was founded at the end of last year, and its core is formed by Countess Mathilda Nostitzová’s closest collaborators. For almost twenty years, the countess has been helping the visually impaired in the Czech Republic. During that time, she has organized a number of significant social events, obtained a number of awards and also contributed with an important financial sum towards activities related to aid for visually impaired people. However, we can all help. For instance, just like her grandmother and her mother, countess Nostitzová used to go and read to the blind. It only took up a small amount of her time. That was one of the reasons why she decided to focus more on concrete projects that can help people with visual handicaps. She lent her name to the Mathilda Civic Association in which she also realizes her activities.
The Mathilda Civic Association constantly looks for new ways to support organizations and projects which help the visually impaired. There are a lot of people with bad eyesight or completely blind and it’s they who know best what kind of help they need. The main objective of the association is to put together those who need help with those who can and want to help and those who know how to help.
