According to a statement from Pražské Služby’s press agent, Miroslava Egerová, people from Prague realize that a clean city means healthier and happier life, however only some are willing to help to keep the city clean. “The aim of this campaign is to help Prague’s residents to realize that they are not only responsible for the cleanness of their own households but also for the city, and that a cleaner city can offer a better life”, stated the press agent.

Half of the residents are going to receive a flier with an appeal and a challenge contained in the title “If you like Prague! Prove it!”

Where to put it?

The fliers contain appropriate pictures as well as brief and fitting texts on how to dispose of certain types of waste.  Moreover there is further information on how Pražské Služby processes waste by using the telephone service.

“The campaign is focused on those who are not so conscientious and who disregard the public good due to their own laziness and self-centeredness.  People frequently throw away litter in the streets or don’t clean up after their dogs, they expect somebody else to do it instead.  We want to use information and emotional parts of the campaign in order to pro-actively affect people’s behaviour at the moment of making decision of waste disposal. “added the General Director of PS Patrik Roman.

Chewing gums and cigarette butts

Nevertheless the worst pollution in the streets is caused by lovers of chewing gum, smokers who throw away not only butts but also empty packets, negligent dog owners and those who “put away” their glass bottles.  Last year Pražské Služby spent over 300 million CZK on cleaning up the city. At the same time, in the summer, it was Prague Town Hall which approved of public notice concerning urban tidiness as well. It is forbidden to throw away litter including chewing gum as well as cigarette butts with penalties of up to 30 thousand CZK.
