Prague services will organise above-standard rubbish collection during the holidays continuing up to 7th January. “To be specific, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve rubbish collection will run according to Friday schedules. Normal services will be provided from 25th till 31st December and the collection of mixed communal rubbish will run as per normal working days,” stated spokeswoman for Prague services Miroslava Egererová.

On New Year’s Eve in critical spots

On New Year’s Eve a special collection of rubbish will be provided in critical places in housing estates and from Prague 1. “There will be extra collections from glass-recycling bins from 20th - 31st December and 3rd- 7th January 2011; on 25th December 2010 there will be an extra run for paper collection otherwise it will all be according to set plans,” specified Mrs Egererová.

Collection of Christmas trees

Loose Christmas trees lying next to mixed communal rubbish bins will be picked up during regular collection from 25th December 2010 till 28th February 2011. We would like to ask residents to put the Christmas trees next to mixed communal rubbish bins not inside, so the bins don’t get full and cause a problem with space for other rubbish. Christmas trees don’t belong in a recycling bin or in a bin for mixed communal rubbish located in local homes, or possibly inside the block of flats where the bins get emptied by being carried through the building. In this case please place the Christmas trees in front of the house where the bins get placed before collection.
