One of the aims of the City is to further public education concerning the sorting out of waste and encouraging the ecological behaviour of citizens.

An annual growth of sorted waste proves increasing support by Prague’s citizens in this way of environment protection. Therefore, the City is extending possibilities of how and where to deposit sorted waste, as well as the kinds of sorted waste that can be sorted.

Since last year you can order not only a typical skip to your house, but also a skip for organic waste. It is a service which was extended after a pilot project in the City district, Dolní Chabry, where it was very successful. Nowadays organic waste refers mainly to the waste from gardens, however, this definition should also cover waste from households very soon. This kind of waste is already being processed by a compost facility in Malešice. There are other possibilities of building such facility possibly with an incinerator. Composted organic waste can be further used as a fertilizer for fields, or after drying out, it can be used as fuel.
