The clinic was established by merging the Addictology Centre with the Addiction Treatment Ward. It is located in the place where Czech medical practice started with the fight against addictions – in  Apolinářská Street. This was also the location of the first sobering-up station.

Help with treatment

The expenses to fund the foundation of the clinic were basically zero. Thanks to the fact, that the clinic is part of The General Teaching Hospital (VFN) it will provide better opportunities of expert training, better possibilities of clinical tests and studies and most of all it is an advantage for patients, who e.g. are leaving the detoxification centre in Pod Petřínem Hospital, as so far there has been no continuation in the form of medical care.

Helps thousands of people

The yearly number of patients is about one thousand. Another five thousand people ask for a consultation and some 500 are admitted to hospital due to alcohol or drug addiction. Statistics say that there are about 30 thousand people addicted to drugs and about a half a million people addicted to alcohol.
