On Thursday 4th March, from 10am to 2pm in Mariánské náměstí, there will be a presentation of the equipment that will be delivered as soon as possible to the Baie de Henne Mission in Haiti. According to the plan the presentation should be supported by an evening showing of the film “Pragovkou na Haiti” (To Haiti in a Praga) by documentarist Martin Strouhal. This will take place in the large hall of the City Library at 8pm.
Water first and foremost
Within the Praga-Haiti project a Praga V3S truck will be sent to the Caribbean with drilling equipment to provide drinking water, which is still in short supply in Haiti. The City of Prague is also supporting the project by donating an adapted Santana off-road vehicle. The project, which is being undertaken by the Fidcon Citizens’ Association in cooperation with the Olomouc Archdeacon’s Charity and the Parish of Blatnice pod svatým Antonínkem, is now moving into its second phase with the working title of “Water for Haiti”.
Praga on a second mission
The legendary Praga truck is going to Haiti for the second time and will be accompanied by specialists who will help with the drilling of wells for local inhabitants. “The country suffers from a lack of clean drinking water and ordinary inhabitants have no chance of obtaining it,” explains Václav Vacek, coordinator of the Praga-Haiti project. Mr. Dorňák, specialist guarantor, adds: “Due to its small size, weight and technical simplicity, the drilling apparatus that we are sending to the Mission is the ideal equipment for the local conditions.”
