Police statistics speak clearly: crime in Prague is on the decline. “Security on the streets is one of the main priorities of the city. Pedestrians and Trams – an accident-prevention campaign
A community event entitled No Way Back! (Není cesty zpět!) has been started by Prague Public Transport Co. and the Czech Police, Prague. It is a campaign which should warn pedestrians of the risk of being hit a tram, especially on crossings and other exposed places.

Drinking in Public – Ordinance Proved Effective
Public drinking is regulated by Ordinance no.12/2008, which has recently been amended. It increased the number of places where drinking is prohibited. The amendment is yet to be discussed by the City Council.

Tourists Damaged Astronomer on Prague’s Astronomical Clock
Five people, who met under the astronomical clock on 21st April at about 4 a.m., damaged the statue of the Astronomer. This happened only a few weeks after the statues on the clock had been renovated. What is more, the statue of the Astronomer had already been damaged last year by unknown vandals. All in all, this has been the third attack on the statue. The first one was registered in 2007.

Obama and Medveděv in Prague
A year after President Obama, speaking in Hradčanské Náměstí, declared his vision of a world without nuclear weapons, he is returning to the scene. On Thursday 8th April Prague Castle will become the venue for the ceremonial signature of the START Treaty by Obama and Russian President Dmitrij Medveděv.

New Horses Guard Prague’s Parks
The horses were a gift donated by Prague 7 Town Hall. Both horses will become part of the “park police”. Like other city districts, Prague 7 horses will mostly guard the green areas in Stromovka and Letenské Sady. They will be stabled on Císařský Island.
