The counselling service for integration was open some time ago in the Senovazna Street in the city centre. It has registered seven hundred clients last year and provided social and legal consultancy to more than two thousand foreigners.

Asylum seekers are the most usual customers. The service can be appreciated by any foreigner who wants to integrate into the new environment more efficiently and quickly. Most often the specialists from the counselling office assist foreigners to enter the job market. They also help them to understand the Czech social system.

Better People, Better System

The counselling service is part of the Quality for Prague 2005 project and since the last year focused on improving services. They had to start from the scratch. Internal rules of procedure had to be developed with new quality standards. This has been done in cooperation with specialist consultants.

Participation in the project is also helping workers to improve their professionalism thanks to the number of workshops and specialist events. A new database of clients has been built. It is in accord with the Personal Data Protection Act and also provides better services to the employees of the service.

The Counselling Service web page has been improved. Visitors of the page www.p-p-i.cz can see for themselves the improved navigation or check the many services offered by the office. A curious reader can, for example, learn in advance about all the interesting events which are lined up for the 20th July – the World Refugee’s Day.

The project is improving the services for foreigners who are long term residents and is in progress until the end of this year. It is financed by the European social fund, state budget and the budget of Prague.
