One such a place is only five minutes walking distance from the Náměstí Míru square in Americká Street, n.22. The Financial Counselling Service is a publicly beneficial organisation visited by people who have problems with paying off their debts.

The service provides advice on how to proceed in cases of impending financial insolvency, or if the insolvency already happened. Counsellors can also give advise on insolvency proceeding (debt clearance, personal bankruptcy), as introduced by the new Insolvency Act. They can help with filling out and submitting of the debt clearance application form, advice on executers and legal proceedings. They also suggest various ways of solving difficult financial situations.

All services are free of charge, discreet, independent and impartial. This is guaranteed by partners of the service, such as Association of Czech Consumers or SOS (Consumer Defence Association).

The Financial Counselling Service also introduced a free phone line. Every Monday you can call, discuss your case, and your questions will be answered for free. The organisation is under the auspices of the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Petr Nečas, and Jana Černochová, who is also the Mayoress of Prague 2, where the seat of the organisation is.
