The company is thus extending the range of information it provides in the event of exceptional situations, accidents or planned breaks in supply. All these can also be found on the map.

Map shows individual water tankers.

The latest innovation is the provision of data in map form (http://mapy.pvk.cz/udalosti/pvk.html), showing the precise location of water tankers as an alternative supply of drinking water. “We want to make orientation easier for our customers, and we are sure that they will now find the tankers more easily. Besides the precise location, the map also gives the date and time the tankers will be in position,” said PVK spokesman Tomáš Mrázek. This innovation is part of a unique system for the operation of the water-management infrastructure, which PVK introduced at the beginning of this year. This system integrated ten different water-management areas.

Better management

For example, the system has brought together the systems for dispatch management, water quality control, monitoring production and consumption of water, planned maintenance and repair, protection of water-management facilities, optimisation of costs, integrated systems for crisis management and informing users, the public and key individuals and companies. “This integration has enabled us to make the operation of the whole water-management system more efficient, and to make it quicker to resolve operational situations. We are also able to detect burst water pipes more quickly,” said Mrázek.

The advantages of the new system will gradually become apparent. PVK expects to be able to deal with burst pipes more quickly, to have greater control over water quality, and better planning and allocation of resources, which will allow better management without the need to increase costs.
