My dream came true in 2009, in a one day trip to Prague. But honestly speaking, this first visit was a little bit disappointing, because of so many tourists and impossibility to properly admire all the amazing venues of Prague. But I’m so thankful to have the chance to comeback in 2012 for studies, and this time for a few years. I must say it’s the most beautiful city, full of history and places to discover and I love saying that Prague is a cozy city to live in, offering all the comfort you need.

Praguers are into reading and culture

I would like to share with you a list of things that makes Prague so attractive:

When entering metro train you have the impression of entering into a library: everyone is reading….newspapers, books, e-books, whatever….seated or standing. Every time I’m amazed when someone takes out of the bag a really huge book and starts to read, and you feel awkward if don’t have something to read. Plus, this entire atmosphere is emphasized by all the posters advertising….guess what? Books!

I like that Prague or better to say people and artists in Prague are creative and appreciate cultural activities. Advertising is not boring (at least most of it), sculptures are unusual and creative; artists can express themselves (first association is of course with sculptures of David Cerny, but is not only about him). Almost every building and place has a history to tell. People go to opera and theatre, to exhibitions and concerts and festivals, and the city offers hundreds of these opportunities! And during the weekend people prefer not to seat at home, but to go out of the city, to visit surroundings, go to hiking or to ski or just to relax.

City of sport and dog lovers

People run, everywhere and at every hour. It can be early in the morning or already evening, you can see someone jogging…in the city center or near neighborhood. And not only jogging, as well bicycles or rollers. The parks are full of children, young people, adults, elderly, doing sport and it’s amazing to see kids who just recently started to walk, but already can hold themselves on rollers. The city is moving, people preferring actively to spend their free time. And guess the favorite sport for weekends – go hiking!

I’m a dog lover. So I’m so happy when I see that almost everyone has a dog…small or big, one or two. And dog owners carry their dogs everywhere…in the transport, in the shop, in the park, on the street, for a walk or running, with a leash or in a special bag. And the dogs are educated – they don’t bark without a need and listen to their masters. And the owners are educated also – they know when to keep the dogs on the leash and when without, when to play with them and very important to clean after them.

Transport, food and beer – they are all great

Transport (bus, tram, metro) is always on time and you easily can get in any part of the city. And the existing apps and websites help you find the shortest itinerary. And of course the tasty food and accessible prices for food. If you are not in the mood of cooking at home, you can always go to a restaurant and not worry much about the final bill….for 5 Euros you can have a good business lunch and for 10 Euros you can have a good dinner with beer. Oh, yes, beer, Czech beer is indeed worth tasting.

So, this is Prague, Praha, city of Kafka, a city of history and a city of inspiration. You can admire her endlessly and is no way you can ignore her.
