Coming back after 3 years
Studying International Relations at the University in Brasil, I took an opportunity to come back to Czech. Visiting and remembering the good time I had here was a step to decide to stay in Prague for next 6 months.
I came in December, 2011. I have been living with my best friend, who is from Jindřichův Hradec. We have been having a great time since I came, but I have had many problems with the visa. I couldn’t imagine that it’s so complicated to get it if I’m already in the Czech territory. I was calling and looking for all possibilities to get it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, nobody could help me with specific information or say exactly what I should do to get it. Finally, I found a Non-Governmental Organization that gave me all the necessary information. So, I did it all and I finally got the visa, after 3 months of trying.
The culture here is so different, that’s why we have a lot of fun every time. For example, in Brasil we aren’t used to having dishwasher and even vacuum cleaner at home, because we usually have a maid who does everything in the house. I have been learning to cook, to clean and to wash by myself, which has been making me so much more independent.
About the transport in the city, I’m glad that the public one works pretty well, helping everybody to get to the whole town anytime. And I’m also happy that I can walk anytime alone in the street, because here is so much safer than Belo Horizonte.
My friends are pleasure that I really like and I appreciate Prague life, however the weather could be a little hotter!
Why Czech Republic?
I was born in Belo Horizonte, a big town which has around 4 million people. Brasil is a dangerous country, where we need to be careful all the time. The safer life makes me feel comfortable to do things that I can’t do in Brasil. More than that, living in a different culture every day is very interesting.
