Celebrate Indian Independence on Střelecký Island

Extensive programme

All your senses will be busy getting to know the culture of second most populous country in the world on Střelecký Island. Dancing, food and entertainment are the main features of the cultural programme. You can look forward to beautiful traditional Indian dances and workshops for adults and children. After dancing, you can taste authentic Indian specialties, and buy Indian food, jewellery and clothing. Henna painting and yoga courses, typical of this country, will be also on programme. Interesting documents will be screened for the 150^th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most important spiritual leaders of India and the independence movement.

Bollywood film ‘Mangal Pandey’ will conclude the festival

The celebrations on Střelecký Island will culminate in the evening with the screening of the epic film ‘Mangal Pandey’, a story of friendship, love, loss and disappointment in the 1857 Indian rebellion. The film stars the well-known actor, Aamir Khan, who is popular beyond the borders of his country, and is often compared to Hollywood actor Tom Hanks.
