    The international literary festival in Prague has been introducing the world’s most renowned writers and the best world literature for the past 30 years. The Prague Writer’s Festival will take place between the 7th and the 11th of October in the Convent of St. Agnes and Rock Café this year.
     
  • Oct 2, 2020 Film and Architecture 2020 to unveil hidden stories
    The 9th annual Film and Architecture festival, subtitled Hidden Stories, takes place from the 30th of September until the 7th of October. The themed film festival focusing on architecture takes place in several towns and cities in the Czech Republic.  In Prague, the festival will screen twenty films about architecture, urbanism and design in the Světozor and CAMP cinemas. The screenings are supplemented by lectures and panel talks.
  • Sep 30, 2020 Sabine Reinfeld: obsessive and imaginable objects
    As part of the 10th year of the Fotograf Festival, The Josef Sudek Studio in the Lesser Town of Prague is hosting an exhibition by the German photographer Sabine Reinfeld entitled ‘Imaginable I, Obsessive Objects X Obsessive I, Imaginable Objects’. The exhibition takes place until the 11th of October.

    The aim of the tenth Fotograf Festival is to give space to works that create or address an encounter with the other and to resurrect the function that can be attributed in this way to documentary photography and motion picture.
  • Sep 26, 2020 Celebrate Prague Zoo’s anniversary
    The 28th of September is the Day of Czech Statehood. In Prague Zoo, this day is traditionally dedicated to the zoo’s anniversary. The reopening of the Hippopotamus Pavilion and the introduction of the male hippoTchéco will be the highlights of this year’s celebration. However, in order to maintain social distancing and prevent large numbers of visitors indoors, this part of the event will be broadcasted on ČT24 in the morning and visitors will be able to visit the Hippo Pavilion over the course of the afternoon.

  • Sep 18, 2020 The Battle of White Mountain to be re-enacted at Vypich
    On the 19th and the 20th of September, a spectacular re-enactment of the Battle of White Mountain (Bitva na Bílé hoře), which was fought 400 years ago, will take place in Prague 6, along with an accompanying programme and a historic market. Hundreds of enthusiasts from all over Europe will take part in the event introducing a dramatic episode of Czech history.
    The reconstruction of the battle, which was a turning point for the Czech lands, is organised by the Bílá hora 1620 association. The re-enactment, which is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe, aims for the highest level of authenticity possible.
  • Sep 16, 2020 LUSTR 2020 showcase of original illustration and comics
    LUSTR 2020, the 7th annual international illustration showcase, will take place between the 17th and the 22nd of September. This year, LUSTR Prague will also include comics for the first time. More than 40 participants from all over the world will exhibit in Campus Hybernská, and the programme will also include lectures, workshops, a festival shop, refreshments, music and a programme for children.

     
  • Sep 4, 2020 Czech Police Museum to host Festival of Swords
    ‘Katana Masuri 2020’, the Festival of Swords or ‘Slavnost mečů’ in Czech, takes place in the Czech Police Museum once every three years. This year’s fifth festival will take place on the 6th of September and will once again introduce not only the Japanese sword, but also Japanese culture to the public. The event covers a wide range of topics, from Europe to Asia, from the historical Middle Ages to fencing today.
  • Aug 31, 2020 73 buildings open their doors for Open House Prague 2020
    This year, the Open House Prague urban architecture festival will take place on the weekend of the 5th and 6th September. A total of 73 architecturally interesting buildings and spaces will be open free of admission to the public.
  • Aug 29, 2020 Impressionists on the movie screen
    On the 31st of August, you can discover the works and the secrets of the French Impressionists in the Světozor Cinema in Prague, as part of the Bio Senior project.
