This year’s programme is the richest in the festival’s history. And, as usual, films that would hardly find their way to Czech cinemas otherwise will be screened.

The best current works by German, Austrian and Swiss filmmakers will be screened in cinemas in Prague, and interesting meetings will take place with representatives of European cinematography. “This year, we have included a number of comedies in the programme. For instance, I'd like to mention the films ‘Love Machine’ and ‘What Have We Done to Deserve This?’. Both films were a great success with the Austrian audience and I believe they will entertain our audience as well,” Sarah Polewsky, from the Austrian Cultural Forum, said.

Categories

The festival will please fans of all film genres. For better organisation, the films are divided into thematic categories. Apart from the traditional category DAS FILMFEST SPEZIAL, the documentary category DIE DOKU, the short film category SHORTS and the children’s movies category BIO JUNIOR, you can look forward to four special categories.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, ES WAR EINMAL IM OSTEN will offer a number of films that will convey the events and mood of the time through personal stories.

The category REBELLION & REVOLTE gives portraits of rebellious and often eccentric heroes who rebel against society.

The last two categories, RETROSPEKTIVE: BRUNO GANZ and KULT KARL MAY, pay tribute to two cultural icons.
