The audiovisual arts group “Luminescent Drive”, working hand in hand with Studio Bomton, is about to illuminate new perspectives of form and space on the architecture of our environment. All that we have hitherto perceived as relatively stable and constant, will be challenged and transformed into a living organism of light and shadow entrancing the senses of the audience.

Video mapping is a dynamic form of visual art that is refracted onto the solid mass of the environment surrounding us. It was developed initially for VJing, a moving visual art form on large displays or screens, into its more complex form that is still only just surfacing in the awareness of the art world and the public at large.

The essential medium utilises dynamic light forms. Modern technology offers these video mapping artists a huge spectrum of options to manipulate light and to play with illusions thereby challenging us to leap beyond our everyday preconceptions.

Luminescent Drive is an enclave of cutting edge creative artists that connect the London and Prague scene. The project was initially created by Marek Myšička, Petr Krejčík, Dan Gregor and Martin Vlach, who orchestrates the musical aspects. The group became so interested in the idea of expanding human perception via light that were inspired to carry out this public experiment at the very heart of Prague, Theatre Hybernia, and will ‘set it in motion’ on 1st October  2009 at 7.30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to see first-hand what it is all about.

VIDEO MAPPING

Is an original groundbreaking style of visual art that stems from VJing and extends it even further, from 2D projecting screens to projecting into open space or onto any kind of object. Even though Video mapping utilises existing technologies common to the entertainment business it applies them in new and creative ways in order to alter our accepted preconception of reality. Every shape, every line or void can be distorted with the use of projectors. The suggestive interplays of light can imbue an object with a new and unforeseen dimension that alters the way it is perceived, changing everything into an illusion.
