The shaft of the column is ready as well. It is sculpted out of Indian sandstone and it can be seen in Strahov, from the garden of the hospital called Nemocnice Milosrdných sester sv. Karla Boromejského. This year, Petr Váňa spent several weeks in the Italian Vitorchiano, a charming village situated on top of sand rocks. The town gave another piece of stone for the new Marian Column. The Lazarian order promised to help by transporting the stone to the Czech Republic. Local Trapist nuns also helped. They provided accommodation for Czech sculptors.

Petr Váňa works here without claiming any honorarium, as he considers the creation of the column his duty. All those who contribute to the preparation of the column believe that one day; it will stand in its original place. And even if it did not, they would not consider their work lost labour.
