Thanks to the cooperation of City Prague, the Town Hall of Prague 7 and the company Bayer s.r.o. there have so far been ten info-stops created along the trail. These info-stops inform children and adults in an entertaining way not only about Stromovka’s history but also about its current situation, and highlight its rich fauna and flora.
There might even be ponds
“We are pleased at the growing interest in Stromovka. Since the flood in 2002, Stromovka has become a place offering increasingly better recreation to Praguers, “stated the Mayor for Prague 7 , Marek Ječmének. “ On a nice day, there are between eight to ten thousand people here. We, together with the company Bayer, who became an investor of this project, would like to expand the trail by another ten info-stops. In the first part of the trail we are describing history, fauna and flora, we know that in Stromovka you can also find rare trees and animals. We will dig deeper into the park’s history for example around the Oak Hill there used to be ponds. It’s not totally out of the question that these watery areas will one day be reconstructed, “said Ječmének.
Stromovka is a great place for relaxation
After the floods in 2002 Stromovka truly experienced a rebirth. The closed down restaurant Slechtova was replaced by the current restaurant Vozovna located near to Rudolf Adit. Now you can find lanes for in-line skating and cycling and you can also enjoy horse riding here. This summer the Mayor of Prague Pavel Bém opened a new recreation sports trail, which can be also used by seniors. Last year, again in co-operation with City Prague and the Town Hall of Prague 7, a well was opened here not far from the Planetarium, which is also a part of the enclosure.
The trail has been designed by students
The new Prague trail “Discover Stromovka” is also unique because its art and graphic designs have been done by the winner of the student graphic competition. The winner was Mario Čumpelík, a student from the Fine Art Academy, studying with Veronika Bromová in the Nova media studio. Even the boards themselves were conceived and created by students from Prague’s high schools; they selected wood originally from trees which fell during the floods.
