The main focus of the Czech Republic is to initiate discussions on market liberalisation, with the emphasis on free movement of workers. The country also wants to participate on budget reforms for the years 2014 to 2020. Other priorities include safe and sustainable energy industry, development of freedom, security, and reforms of some institutions. Judging from the dramatic events in Gaza and dispute between Ukraine and Russia, we can expect that the Czech Republic will conduct quite a few diplomatic missions, and Czech representatives may even meet with the new American President.

Prague not only in token of politics

On top of that, Czech presidency also means that political meetings and cultural events will take place in the Czech Republic. For six months some Czech cities, including Prague, will become a temporary home for hundreds, even thousands, of European delegations.

The Capital City will host political meetings of bigger and smaller sizes, and countless cultural events. Hopefully, they will introduce the Czech Republic as a country of cultured, welcoming and competent people, who surely belong in Europe.
