Parking in the city – maps showing paid parking areas

Parking in the centre is significantly restricted. If you see a blue parking strip painted on the ground, be aware that this is a restricted zone designated for local residents. These zones can be found in many parts of Prague especially in Prague 1, 2, 3 and 7. Maps showing paid parking areas can be downloaded if you click on the relevant city district Prague 1, Prague 2, Prague 3 and Prague 7.

As a rule, in paid parking areas parking meters are installed. You can pay either by cash or by Opencard. The price is usually CZK 40 per hour; you can also opt for a shorter time, 15 or 30 minutes.

Advantage of P+R car parks

If you enter Prague during the morning rush-hour between 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m., you can count on a significant delay. Therefore, it is advisable to make use of P+R car parks where you can leave your car for the whole day and also buy a subsidized public transport return ticket. Some of the P+R car parks are located directly at the terminal metro stations, others can be found in key places convenient for drivers. You can download an up-to-date list including the availability of free spaces in P+R car parks here.

When your car is towed away by police

Your car is at risk of being towed away for unauthorised parking in residential zones or if you park in paid zones, and if you park in paid zones without paying, your car can be clamped and you will be fined afterwards. You can find out if your car has been towed away if you send a request via wap, by using the internet form or by calling city police number 156. You can learn how much your fine is here.

Road cleaning

The danger of being towed is a risk also if a driver leaves his car parked in the street where road cleaning is currently underway. Here you can download all the road cleaning dates for the current year according to individual streets.
