Last year saw a significant increase in demand with a high number of cars (2,009,891,100) using P+R. “This is almost a hundred thousand more than in previous year,” said Tomáš Mrázek, press spokesman for the Technical Administration of Communications.

Chodov and Letňany Favourite places

The number one P+R with regard to its utilisation is Chodov (213,900 cars), which is located by Brno highway D1, followed by Letňany located at the same terminal station of line C (149,600 cars). Černý Most came in third with 125,400 cars parking on its premises.

More convenient than driving to the centre

“P+R are a good alternative to access roads leading to the centre that are very often congested. The majority of these car parks are located right next to a metro or railway station,” Mrázek pointed out. In addition, the cost of one whole day of parking comes to a mere ten crowns, while in the centre you have to pay CZK 40 per hour.  In comparison with commercial car parks or with the fee you would have to pay had your car been towed away, this is a negligible amount.

Possible to find out in advance

A driver can find out about the number of free spaces available in P+R car parks even before setting off. The information is available on the TSK website (www.tsk-praha.cz ) in the section P+R, parking spaces. Those who commute to Prague on a regular basis can activate the TSK info service on the same website. “Every user can set the number and frequency of the data he wants to receive according to his needs. Information can be sent from one, more, or all of the car parks. At the same time, he can select days and times when he wishes for the information to be delivered,” said Mrázek and added, “This can even be several times a day. The only restriction is the ten minute frequency.”

All you need to do is to register

All those interested can find the relevant link to TSK info service at www.tsk-praha.cz. Prior to activation, you have to register. After you have sent the registration form, you receive an e-mail with the authorisation request. Subsequently, an authorised user can log in and set how he wishes the information to be delivered to him.
