The bridge is closed to traffic but pedestrians can still use it. Local short-term closures of adjoining routes are to be expected during the renovation works.

The reason for the renovation is the long-lasting bad condition of the bridge‘s structure. It is also the reason why the maximum load of the bridge had to be lowered. The old structure of the bridge is going to be pulled down and replaced with a new ferroconcrete beam structure of the same size. The lower construction will be preserved. Since the bridge is located in a conservation area, all the works on the bridge take place under the supervision of the National Heritage Institute. The bridge is 13.6 metres long and 11.2 metres wide.
