Prague experiences pollution like any other European city, and similarly it wants to restrict the amount of vehicles that make the pollution worse, such as the aging cars.

If the city followed the EuroIV emission standard, only vehicles made in 2005 and after and those running on Diesel and made after 1998 would be allowed in.

The proposal has two options,“ said Jiří Nouza, a Deputy Mayor, either limit access to the city centre, or expand the zone to the city ring.“ He adds that such action has to ensure continuous transport and must not trouble the city residents.

Studies revealed that Czech legislation is not against the low-emission zone measures. After analysis that will be finished by April, there could be a Council meeting regarding the proposal possibly in September. One year preparatory period for the new situation on roads would follow.
