The cycle path on the outskirts of Prague continues the cycle path to Vrané nad Vltavou, which is currently under construction. The new cycle path was opened by the Deputy Mayor Jiří Nouza, Mayor of Prague – Zbraslav Aleš Háněl and the Director of the Technical Road Administration (TRA) Ladislav Pivec.

Missing part

“It’s a shame that the second 507m-long phase is missing. It cannot be built until the question of property rights, or more specifically restitution, has been settled. At present, there is just a pathway, which connects the other two sections (i.e. 1st and 3rd phase),“ said the Deputy Mayor of Prague Jiří Nouza. “I’d also like to mention the sensors installed on a road in Modřany, which notifies drivers of the slip road to the cycle path. The popularity of cycling is increasing and it is more and more often an alternative way of traveling to work. I am glad that I can give another section of a cycle path to the inhabitants of Prague,“ said Jiří Nouza.

Sports opportunities

“We managed to open the new cycle path between Zbraslav and Jarov as planned. Thanks to it we can extend the existing hundreds of kilometres of cycle routes in Prague by another path in a touristically attractive area of Zbraslav,“ said the Director of the TRA Ladislav Pivec. The Mayor of Zbraslav Aleš Háněl said that the cycle path will now widen sport opportunities for residents. It is used not only by cyclists but also by in-line skaters and even runners.
