In cooperation with Prague City Hall we have prepared a programme in Wenceslas Square on 18th September, within the Car-free Day programme, in which we want to introduce children and adults to electromobility, from little kids’-cars to big cars and motorbikes.
A demonstration won’t do, can people try out the power of the electric vehicles?
We’ve prepared test-rides on electric-bikes. The programme is accompanied by an exhibition of electric motorbikes, and we haven’t overlooked the cultural programme. I think the biggest attraction will be the show we have prepared in cooperation with European electromobility organisations. The cycle-trainer, which comes on an electric lorry, opens out to create a test circuit where people can find out what electric bikes can do.
PRE is building charge stations for electric cars, motorbikes and bicycles. Will you keep the promise you made some time ago to complete 20 of these by the end of the year?
At present there are eight charge stations and negotiations are continuing with various city regions. I suppose I have to complain a bit that central Prague isn’t reacting, although I understand that it’s more difficult for them in that, for example, they have to get approval of conservationists for such work. Nevertheless, we will soon be opening charge stations in Prague 11, 13 and in Prague 5. I’m sure we’ll come to an agreement with the other regions of the city and fulfil our promise of 20 charge stations by the end of December.
Electric bikes are a big hit, PRE is cooperating with a bike-hire service at Mánes. How does that look at the moment?
We are operating the bike-hire service in cooperation with the E-kolo company, which provides the bikes and expert staff. We supply all the information about recharging the bikes and using electrical power for transport. The hire service is running well, even it didn’t manage to open right at the beginning of the cycling season. There is considerably high interest, we’ve even been approached by travel agencies who are interested in hiring electric bikes to do trips, for example in the Šumava region. In October we are due to evaluate this pilot project, but even now it looks likely that we will continue.
