Childminders, engine-drivers and conductors

The train is an adapted Regionova train which besides the possibility to transport bikes also offers the opportunity for children to play while travelling. The trains have special personnel – girls who are trained to work with children from pre-school age up.

Pump up your tyres if you please

Cyclists have the opportunity to inflate their tyres on the train or carry out small repairs on the bike. The train has a capacity for 20 bikes but if necessary it can transport up to 30 bikes. The overall capacity is 80 passengers.

Playing area and a present

The playing area can accommodate up to 25 children. There are toys as well as tables with board games such as Ludo, Checkers and other games. Kids can also borrow jigsaw puzzles, crosswords or a train dispatcher’s set. All the children also get a beautiful present – a free ticket to the Kingdom of Railways at Anděl where they can also enjoy trains.

On weekdays?

Before the launch of the operation, some pre-school teachers suggested that the train could also be used for smaller children. “In many cases the children hardly ever travel on the train as their parents take them everywhere by car. This is why we are considering how to use the train on weekdays,“ said the managing director of ROPID Pavel Procházka.

Esmeralda and Kasandra

The adapted Regionova carriages bear the names of Esmeralda and Kasandra. “The children’s corners are designed in such a way that they use up what was up to now unused space. The expenses for the adaptation amounted to a quarter of a million crowns, which we share with ROPID,“ said Michal Štěpán, Deputy of the Director General for Passenger Transport of the Czech Railways.
