Extending the validity of your Opencard in a validator is quick and easy. All you need to do is to insert the card in the validator the same way you do when uploading electronic coupons. The validity of the card will thus be extended by two years.

Click here for a list of validators: http://opencard.praha.eu/jnp/cz/kontakty/prodlouzeni_platnosti.html?selectedPart=cela_praha.

Another option how to extend the validity of your Opencard is to visit the Opencard Customer Centre in Škoda Palace (Jungmannova 35/29, Prague 1). This is also quick and easy, as there is no need to fill in any forms or present an ID. All you need to bring is your Opencard.

Extension of the validity of Opencards is no longer automatic, as it used to be. Passengers simply choose one of the above mentioned ways to extend their card before it expires. The validity of the card can be verified by inserting it into a validator.

Along with the extension of the validity of the Opencard, the remaining part of the electronic travel coupon can be uploaded on the card in case its validity was split due to the expiry date of the card (e.g. yearly coupons). Since the part of the coupon exceeding the validity of the card is only stored in the Prague Public Transit Company’s database and not on the card itself, it is necessary to extend the Opencard before it expires and thus upload the remaining part of the relevant coupons. Passengers will thus avoid possible problems when checked by a ticket inspector.

The extension of the card until the end of the year 2014 applies approximately to 140 thousand Opencards.
