“At the moment the demolition of the tram line is under way and the cables under the old tram line are being realigned. This will make room for the exit ramp no.3, which will connect the tunnel and Troja junction,” said Ing. Jiří Husárik from Metrostav, division 2.

Bridge to be dismantled on the riverbank

Paradoxically, the bridge is being welded now. “When this has been finished, we will gradually push it on the riverbank span by span and dismantle it. Pushing one bridge span off the river will take one or two days. We will start this stage at the end of November and it depends on how fast the preparatory work will be completed,” said Husárik.

Levee against flooding

The residents of Holešovice used to be protected against floods by barriers which were inserted under the railway viaduct under which the tram line to Troja ran. “It is not true anymore. A levee built in the place of the tram line is about to be completed and will replace the barrier,” pointed out Husárik.

A digger to work under water

Metrostav is also responsible for the removal of bridge piers, by which Rámusák was supported. “At the moment we are making a decision about how to proceed. The documentation for the piers from the 80s is not very detailed and thus, I can say that we will most probably use an underwater digger as well as walls from sheeting piles. This work will be under way sometime during March and April next year,” said Ing. Jiří Husárik. “This work will be carried out under the agreement with Povodí Vltavy and the State Shipping Authority.”
